• Open any folder. Press ‘Alt’ button to get the menu bar on top.
• In that go to “Folder Options”, under “Tools” .
• Under the “View” tab, check the option “Reopen previously opened folders”.
• Click “Apply” and “OK”.

That’s it. The next time you switch on your computer, these folders will automatically open for you. In my opinion, this feature can be a little annoying. AFAIK, I don’t see much of a need to keep folders always open. However I do think that it can be handy when there are frequent power cuts.

Usually what I do to bypass this time limit is switch off and on my internet connection. But, there are other ways like deleting cookies and so on. But, if you don’t want to do any of those things, then here are another couple of ways.In this post, I will list out a few websites that will help you to easily bypass their time restrictions, without switching on and off or deleting cookies.

To use the websites below, all you need to do is copy the URL of the video you are watching and paste it in the website. Click on “Watch”. That’s it!

1. Sheepser.com – This website supports video links from Megavideo, VideoBB and VideoZer. You can enter either the video ID or the complete URL to watch it through this website.
2. Megastreaming.org – It supports only Megavideo links.
3. EzyWatch – Supports Megavideo links.
4. MegaSkipper - Bypasses time limits from VideoBB, Megavideo and VideoZer. It also has a chrome extension that notifies whenever the limit has reached and provides the URL to open through Mega Skipper.
5. Streamo.tv – Supports Megavideo links, has a Firefox plugin too.
6. VideoURLs – Supports Megavideo links. It also finds new links for broken links. It also has a firefox extension.

PROBLEM -  Making a neat horizontal bar with all the social-sharing buttons inline.

Well, I am not a coding expert. But, somehow I wrote a code which is simple and easy. So, I thought I would share the code here on my blog.

I scratched my head for a lot of time over this problem. But, later I came to know that I was not really looking at the problem. Okay, now first let me give you the code.

One another thing-  This is the code I wrote. It is very simple and easy. But, still this code didn’t work in the beginning. Notice the highlighted part of the code above. By default, the Plus one button width will be450px or something, which makes it not possible to keep them inline. That’s why it didn’t work. But, after sometime I found the problem and fixed it. I am just giving a heads up so that you don’t do the same problem.

Also, the code I wrote is only for three buttons, but you can extend it. Just add the code of the button in between the following tags.

uTorrent is one of the most popular and most used torrent client. In this post, I am going to show you how to limit the rate of  download or upload for a particular download.

• Select the torrent download for which you want to limit the download/upload rate.
• Right-Click on it and select “Properties” option.
• In the dialog box opened, under the “Bandwidth Settings” change the maximum download rate and upload rate as you desire.
• If you want to change it back to default, replace the rate by 0.

That’s it. You can now browse the web while the torrent is downloading.

When I searched for the solution online, I found many answers like, saving a excel spreadsheet as a webpage and then, converting that webpage into an image. Or, I found some cumbersome visual basic code (I think so, am not sure)on Microsoft Forums. But, here is a simple solution that I found out to this problem.

You can convert, not only excel tables, but also Smart Arts, Charts and Word Arts into images, using this trick. Let me get to the process now.

If you have a table, already created in Excel,

• Copy that table.
• Open a new PowerPoint presentation.
• Paste the table into an empty slide.
• Right-click on the table, and select the option “Save as Picture”.

That’s it, you are done! Your table is now saved as a PNG image file!

We are actually using a simple feature, that’s already present in MS Office. However, the feature is limited only to MS PowerPoint, not MS Excel or MS Word. I wonder why.

P.S. The same procedure can be followed for converting Smart Arts, Charts and Word Arts into images.

• It’s very long, irritating.
• It shows the list of people who are not online too, which makes the list very long.
• It is difficult to scroll through and find out who is online.

So, as always someone has come up with a good Greasemonkey userscript to get back the old facebook chat. Here is the link. Go ahead and install it.

Some of the features of this script are:

- Shows ALL online/idle friends
- Shows ONLY online/idle friends (Doesn’t show offline friends)
- Orders friends by first name
- Groups friends by online and idle.
- Shows total number of online/idle friends when chat is open.
- Keep the list of online friends on the left hand side of the page always visible even when the chat dialog opens.
- Does not realign the page when chat opens
- Header to the top of chat that closes the menu when clicked.
- Works for both HTTP and HTTPS
- Searching friends is still possible.
- Going online/offline is still possible.

As I am using Excel 2007, I will be writing instructions based on that, but it will be mostly similar for other versions too.

• Go to the “Page Layout” tab on the ribbon.
• In that, go to the “Sheet options” tab and there check the “Print” option under the “Gridlines” category.
• Here is a simple video tutorial on how to do the same.

Some other tips while printing an excel sheet

You can display comments in your hard copy, and also edit how errors, if any, gets displayed. To do this,

• Go to Page Layout>Sheet Options. Click on the “Sheet Options” block.
• A new window will open named Page Setup. In that, under the “Print” section, there is an option called “Comments”.You can select your preference in the dropdown box.
• Also, below the “Comments” option, there is another option called “Errors”. In the dropdown box, you have options like “Blank”, “As Displayed” and so on. You can change it according to your wish.

Tip: It’s always better to show Errors in an excel worksheet as “Blank”, so that you can manually calculate it later and write.

Creating an “Application shortcut” for a webpage lets you access that webpage as an application in a separate standalone window right from your desktop with a click. This is one of the unique features in Google Chrome.

Advantages of Creating Application Shortcuts

There are many advantages of creating application shortcuts.

1. You can visit your “most visited” sites easily right from your desktop.
2. There are no address bars in the applications to disturb you.
3. The “Application shortcuts can be placed anywhere you like, on Desktop, in Start Menu or even in Quick Launch bar.

So, knowing the advantages of this feature, let us know how we can create an application for IPL.

Creating an Application for IPL

In creating an application for IPL, we just take advantage of the Youtube. We already know about the live telecast of all the matches on Youtube’s IPL Channel.  So, we can create a application shortcut for that channel.

To create an application,

1. Go to Youtube’s IPL channel.
2. Make sure that you have selected the same tab and click on the “Control the Current Page” button on the top right corner in Google Chrome.
   

   Click on the button highlighted

3. Select the first option in the drop down menu- “create application shortcuts…”
4. A new window will popup with the title “Gears”. In that select the option where you want to place the application shortcut.
   

   Check the options where you want to see the shortcut

5. You are done. You just created an awesome and simple application for the IPL channel. Good job!
6. Now, click on the shortcut and it will open a standalone window in Google Chrome which loads the Youtube’s IPL channel.
   

   This is how your IPL application looks!

Before proceeding to the procedure of how to combine/merge two or more RSS feeds let me explain where and how can this be helpful.

• As I said in the above paragraph, this trick might be helpful in categorizing interesting feeds and non-interesting feeds, or rather less interesting feeds.
• Suppose you have a few really informative sites that you never want to miss. In such a case, you can merge multiple feeds under the name like “My Favorite Feeds”.
• Categorizing the feeds based on different subjects. Suppose you have feeds related to different fields. In that case, you can combine multiple feeds based on the subjects the feed contains.

I hope you got an idea of how this trick can be helpful to you.

Procedure

To be frank, I found this trick while I was working with Yahoo! Pipes. People who don’t know about Yahoo! Pipes can refer to the Wikipedia article linked. (Hover the mouse over Yahoo! Pipes)

1. After signing in, you get a dashboard type screen where you can work on your project.
2. Click on “Sources” in the top-left corner.
3. Drag and drop the module “Fetch Site Feed”. The number of modules depends of number of site feeds that you want to merge into a single feed. I am explaining with three sites here.
4. After adding the modules, enter the site addresses of all the sites. [Note: You need to enter the site address and not the feed address]
5. Now, you need to use an operator to combine all the feeds. This is the “Union” operator. To use this, go to the operator tab and drag “Union” module to the dashboard.
6. Now, pipe all the “Fetch Site Feed” modules with the “Union” button. [Refer the pic below]

   

7. After you do this, you need to create the RSS feed. So you have to add “Create RSS feed” module. To add this, again go to the “Operators” tab and drag “Create RSS Feed” module.
8. Select the suitable preferences and connect the lower end of this module with result. The upper terminal should be connected to the “Union” operator.

   

9. That’s it. Now save the pipe and run it!
10. You can even subscribe to that feed in your reader. You need to add the resulting pipe URL in your RSS feed reader.
