FIFA is trending, and bloggers are trying to make more bucks out of it. If you are also trying to, then learn what keywords to use and how to use

FIFA World Cup 2010 has been a trending topic online, for quite a few days now. Many bloggers have also started posting about the FIFA. However, it is important to check whether you are using the right keywords, in right places. This post is just to give a tip to increase your earnings to a small extent.

While writing FIFA posts, most blogs (especially Indian) I have read, have used the keyword Football (including me). However, I recently did a adwords keyword search using the keyword tool regarding this. I found that the keyword “soccer” had more Estimated Avg.CPC, than the keyword “football”.

Well, the reason why we (Indians) use “football” more often than “soccer” is that “football” is used all over the world, while “Soccer” is American. As, in most parts of world, “football” is in practice, we tend to use “football”.

If you take a look at the image below, the keyword “football” has an average CPC of around 0.99 USD, while “soccer” has an average CPC of 1.13 USD. The difference is pretty much noticeable.

Another thing is, while doing the keyword research, the location was set to United States. Since most bloggers, as far as I know, target American traffic, it’s better to use “soccer” keyword in your posts than “football” keyword.

But, till now we just looked at the average CPC. But, if you see the the search volume for the keyword “football” is more than the search volume for “soccer”. It’s almost less than half the “football” volume. So, it’s better to use both the keywords simultaneously. Like, “football” in the title and excerpt, while “soccer” in the middle of the posts. What do you think?

This post is not written by an expert. These are just my views and there may be many mistakes in my analysis. I expect you to hit me with questions or tell me what’s right and what’s wrong. We can strike a discussion together. Thanks for reading!

This is a post that helps you to know everything you have to know about rel="canonical" tag. This tag/element is used for reducing duplicate content problems that bloggers and website owners often suffer from.

Recently, when WordPress 2.9 was released I saw it was supporting something called rel = “canonical”. I wondered what it was and googled for it and found this element was pretty much useful and interesting. So, I thought I would share this piece of information on my blog.

You might have seen many URLs pointing to the same/similar page many times. For example,

www.example.com

example.com

www.example.com/index.html

example.com/home.aspx

These type of URLs may cause search engines to look at your content as duplicate and thus your search engine rankings may go down. In such cases, using canonical elements can reduce the problem.

So, What’s the deal with rel =”canonical”?

When many URLs point to the same or more exactly, similar page then that results in duplicate content. Bloggers, SEOs and website owners avoid this by using 301 redirects, which redirect the search engines to the new URL. This rel=”canonical” element has a similar functionality. While 301 redirection works across different domains, rel=”canonical” works only within a domain. However, canonical elements even work for sub-domains too.

How To Use The Canonical Element?

Using the canonical element is very simple. All you need to do is put a piece of tag/element at the top of your non-canonical page. For example, consider two URLs like “http://www.example.com” and “http://www.test.example.com”. Now, if both the URLs lead to the same page, search engines consider it as duplicate content. To avoid this, you can add the canonical element at the top of the non-canonical page (http://www.example.com).

<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.test.example.com/>

Note: This should be added to the head section of the page. (i.e., after <head> tag.)

Imporant:

If you add the canonical tag to both the pages, this creates an infinite loop. In such cases, search engines have the rights to decide which is better.

Canonical elements do not direct the search engines to a different page, but instead just gives a suggestion to go to that page. To be short, canonical tags are not directive, they are just suggestions. If you have two URLs say, http://www.example.com and http://www.cartoon.example.com which are completely different and you try to add canonical element between them, search engines may not consider it. So, you can add canonical tags only to same or similar pages.

So, this canonical element can be of great help to bloggers who blog from blogger platform. Blogger users often suffer from duplicate content issues. Using canonical tags can reduce this. For more information about this, you can watch the video by Matt Cutts, Google engineer below.

SEO-Browser.com is a website that helps you to look at your website in a way the search engine looks. This helps you in optimizing your website or blog for search engines. Check out what are the aspects a search engine analyzes while looking through your blog in this post

Search Engine Optimization is one of the toughest concept I have seen while blogging. This is the reason why many blogs writing about SEO have emerged and get good traffic too! There are lots of tools to check out of how much “search engine friendly” you website is. Today I found a very interesting tool that you may like it.

SEO-Browser.com is a tool that helps you to check how search engines sees a particular website/blog. This is helpful for the bloggers to analyze and optimize their website with ease. To use this tool, you need to enter your blog URL and you are done.

There are two modes for analyzing your website. Simple mode and Advanced mode. Simple mode just shows you how a page is viewed by a search engine. Whereas in advanced mode, it helps you to analyze many internal aspects of a website/blog like metadata, external and internal links, CSS sheet, duplicate content and so on… These are the aspects which are very important to note while optimizing your website for search engine.

Overall, SEO-Browser is very helpful for website optimization. What do you think about this tool? Do you think it will really help in optimizing blogs? Share your thoughts through comments below. Every comment you make is of great value to me.

SEO I Did To This Post

SEO Title: Know How Search Engines See Your Blog/Website

“Blog/Website” again as in the previous post , you need to use double keywords in your title. This helps you to rank higher. Actually, “know” here is a noise, however it would not be nice to submit a title which contains only keywords. So I added that word. BTW, I have a doubt here. If you are reading this line, please be kind to answer my small doubt:

“What’s wrong in adding only keywords in the title instead of sentences?”

SEO Excerpt: Here is a tool that helps you to look at your blog/website in a way search engines look. This gives you a deeper understanding of SEO and make your blog more SEO-Friendly!

Some important keywords: “blog/website”, “SEO”, “SEO-Friendly”

SEO tags: seo for blogs, tool to seo, how search engine looks a website,

Here is a tool that helps you to check out the position of your blog on a search engine for the relevant keywords that you enter.

The number of people entering the blogosphere is increasing exponentially nowadays. So, how does one become famous in blogging? There are many factors that are to be concentrated while becoming a successful blogger. Among those, one is the rank you get on search engine for a particular search query. (I would like to warn you at the beginning itself, this is not the Google PR I am talking about.)

For a blogger to become famous, he must write posts which are needed for people and also not written by anyone. By my experience of about 5 months of blogging, I have come to know that most people quit their search for a single page. Thus it becomes important to track your position in the Google search query.

Take for example, this post, “Add Bing Search In Opera 10“. I get lot of traffic for this post. This is because of two reasons. One is that people search for such things and the second reason is that it stands at a good position on Google search query. (You can check the position here). Thus, I hope you got the idea of positions in Google Queries.

Here is a tool that helps you to find where you stand on the search engine query for keywords you enter. Just enter the keywords for which you want to know the position of your blog. Here is a small example:

Here, I have entered the keywords for the post I had said earlier and I get my position at No.4. Thus, it’s important for you to check out where you stand on the search engine. Try out this software here. And don’t forget to subscribe to my blog if you like the post.

However Bing is really getting good nowadays in its own style. But, according to me it cannot kill Google. Google is the king always.

Google has been the most amazing word in the whole web. There is no person on the web who doesn’t know the word Google. How did Google start?? Who started it? How did it become famous?? Latest news from Google?? Get all the things on a single page

Before telling you what I have found out let me myself tell you the introduction to the history of Google. Google started out with a domain name Back-Rub which was started by Larry and Sergey, at present, The Stanford University, Science grad students. This was in 1995. Later, they got a new domain Google.com. This started the entry of Google in the internet. It has developed to create a new Google OS right now!! How Amazing!!!

So, the Google quest is amazing to know about. I have found a Google page where you get the complete time-line from back rub to the Google Android powered phone. It’s called the Google Tenth Birthday However, it is not yet updated for the latest news (Google OS). But Google has got a amazing history…That’s for sure!!!:)

Enjoy this video if you have time…. It’s from Google

Not getting good search results?? Fed up of searching n many sites in different window? Dreamt of having all the searches in one window?? Webmynd offers everything you want. All one a single Google page which is easy to load and also quick to seaerch

Webmynd image

Searching on the Internet is not as easy as it looks to be. You have to do a lot of effort to get good results in front of the search engines. What if you could search all the search engines in a single window instead of trying out many times in different sites. If you are looking for something like that then read this:

Webmynd is a firefox addon that helps us to search the same keyword in different sites in the same window. It’s just like having the whole set of sites in a single page, like icons on the desktop. This addon uses the Google page itself as it’s default page. You can search for many other sites like MS Bing, YouTube, Amazon, Wikipedia and many other social sites like Delicious, Twitter etc. alon with Google as the main page.

The addon gives search results simultaneously and opens different search results in different tabs or windows. This is helpful for people:

When they want to search for both videos and articles simultaneously.

When they want to buy something in Amazon and also search for the reviews of a product.

Search for both Blogposts and information from Wikipedia simultaneously.

The addon perfectly suits for people who want their search results very accurately.
